A screen question from the deck of a small yacht
My sister Chiara and Paolo have decided on a small motor yacht for summers between Sanremo and the Croatian islands, and the boring part has started: the helm electronics. The yacht they like most, one they found on https://arconyachts.com/ last month, still has the original displays, and in bright Adriatic sun at noon you cannot read them at all.
I don't know this world, I write about harbours, but Paolo keeps sending me articles about MicroLED and high brightness panels, so I thought I would ask people who actually know. Is this technology already in marine displays, or is it still a few years away for small yachts? And is the difference in sunlight really so big as the brochures say?
They sign the contract in December, so there is time to learn.
