Two cities on the shortlist, and the spreadsheet won
Half my calendar is trade shows in Asia, so at some point I started counting nights instead of guessing. Last year it was 41 in Thailand, 12 in Singapore, 6 in Taipei. The hotel line in our budget stopped making sense to me.
So we are buying a flat instead of booking rooms. Two bedrooms, because my wife's mother comes in February and stays long.
What I did not expect is how far apart the two markets sit on paper. In Singapore the same money is a studio far out from the centre. In Bangkok, and in Phuket even more, it is a proper flat with a pool downstairs and a school two streets away. I have been reading listings for about eight months now to get a feel for how long a place stays up before it goes.
Most of that reading is on https://tranio.com/thailand/apartments/ and the file on my laptop has nineteen rows in it.
